The Citizens for Responsible Growth have submitted the referendum petition to try to block the North Fillmore Specific Plan. Over 1600 signatures were gathered. This represents about 30% of the registered voters of Fillmore. This is a powerful statement that we hope our leaders take to heart. The citizens do not want 700 or 900 homes in North Fillmore. If the City does not repeal the amendment, a special election will be required. While this referendum does not specifically state the number of homes that the citizens of Fillmore would like to see in North Fillmore, it does provide an opportunity for the City and the citizens to hopefully agree to a more responsible level of growth.

If there is no compromise, an initiative will have to be drafted to determine a reasonable number of homes for North Fillmore.
